I completed my PhD (2013) from the Department of Functional Genomics at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi. During my PhD work, we illustrated the functional role of non-coding RNAs in apoptosis and cancer and revealed the mechanistic details of non-coding RNA induced apoptosis in cancer cells. My Post Doctoral work involved studying the regulation of cholesterol and lipid metabolism by these RNAs in cancer cells. Fascinated with the tremendous potential of non-coding RNAs in cellular physiology, I decided to take up the challenge to explore if they can be used as a molecular tool for the reprogramming process.

Direct reprogramming of somatic cells has a greater potential in the area of regenerative medicine. My current research interest is to understand the molecular details of non-coding RNA mediated cellular reprogramming.
